School PTA Joint Workshop: Narcissus Planting Class Welcomes Spring
Our school's Parent-Teacher Association, in collaboration with Shek Lei St. John's Catholic Primary School PTA, hosted a "Parent-Child Workshop – Narcissus Planting Class" on January 30, 2026 (Friday) to celebrate the Lunar New Year and introduce students to Chinese traditions.
The event drew strong interest, with 37 parent-child pairs from secondary school and 26 from primary school, totaling 126 participants.
The blooming of narcissus flowers symbolises renewal and the beginning of hope. To welcome the arrival of the Lunar New Year, our Parent-Teacher Association joined hands with the Parent-Teacher Association of Shek Lei St. John's Catholic Primary School to co-organise the “Narcissus Planting Workshop,” allowing parents and students to experience the joy of cultivation together in a festive atmosphere.
On the day of the event, our teachers patiently explained the techniques and key points of planting narcissus, from selecting bulbs and preparing the soil to watering and caring for the plants. Every step was carefully demonstrated, and the attending parents and students listened attentively, showing great enthusiasm and engagement. By planting narcissus side by side, parents and children not only strengthened their bonds but also enhanced communication between home and school.
In addition, participants gained valuable knowledge about narcissus cultivation and developed a deeper appreciation for both horticulture and traditional culture. The audience also benefited from the teachers' explanations, absorbing a wealth of related insights. The entire parent-child workshop concluded in a joyful and warm atmosphere, adding vitality and hope to the celebration of the New Year.
Surveys showed high satisfaction with timing, venue, and outcomes; parents endorsed its role in promoting collaboration and expressed keen interest in similar future events.
Special thanks to both PTAs for their organization and to all participants. The school will continue fostering such educational cultural activities.
