F1 and F2 STEAM Day: 'Mechanics and Structural Engineering'

This year's STEAM Day was a full-day event centred on "Mechanics and Structural Engineering," split into morning and afternoon sessions for S1 and S2 students respectively. Both levels explored core concepts of force distribution and structural integrity. S1 students took on the "Load-Bearing Bridge" challenge, applying principles of triangular support and leverage to build the sturdiest model using limited materials. Meanwhile, S2 students tackled "Earthquake-Resistant High-Rise" design, investigating base isolation and damping techniques through simulated tremor tests. Students came prepared with their pre-designed blueprints from class and had to apply scientific reasoning and engineering practices on the spot. The hands-on activities not only honed problem-solving and teamwork skills but also sparked creativity, allowing everyone to experience firsthand how STEM connects to real-world challenges.
