Joint School Cultural and English Learning Study Tour to New Zealand 2025-26

To enhance students' self-directed English learning through immersive experiences and international exposure, as well as to deepen their understanding of different cultures and higher education, the English Department organised the Joint School Cultural and English Learning Study Tour to New Zealand 2025-26.

A major highlight of this year's tour was a five-day school immersion project. Students had the unique opportunity to join regular classes at two local Colleges, experiencing New Zealand's student-centered education system firsthand. To further enrich their cultural understanding, students stayed with local host families. This homestay experience provided a warm, authentic environment where they practiced daily conversational English and experienced local lifestyles and hospitality.

Beyond the classroom, students embarked on unforgettable sightseeing excursions across the North Island. They explored the magical Hobbiton Movie Set, marveled at the world-famous glowworms in the subterranean Waitomo Caves, and discovered the unique geothermal wonders like the Redwoods Altitude and the rich Māori heritage of Rotorua. The itinerary also included visits to the country's economic hub, where they toured the prestigious University of Auckland and explored the extensive historical collections at the Auckland Museum.

The study tour was a truly enriching and memorable experience for our students. By stepping out of their comfort zones to engage in deep academic and cultural exchanges, they practiced English in authentic, real-world contexts. Through these immersive learning opportunities, students greatly enhanced both their interest and confidence in using the English language.
