Chinese History, THS & ECA – Yunnan Historical and Cultural Experiential Tour
From June 27 to July 1, 2026, the Chinese History Department, the Tourism and Hospitality Studies Department, and the Extra-Curricular Activities Committee jointly organized a 5-day, 4-night "Yunnan Historical and Cultural Experiential Tour." Through field trips and site explorations, the tour aimed to enhance students' understanding of Yunnan Province's history and culture, as well as the nation's current developments.
Students explored local history and culture at various iconic landmarks, including the Dianchi Dam, Dali Ancient City, Erhai Ecological Corridor, the Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple, Lijiang Ancient City, and Baisha Ancient Town in Lijiang. They also participated in a cultural workshop on the traditional tie-dyeing craft of the Dali Bai ethnic minority, where they created their own unique tie-dyed handkerchiefs. Furthermore, the group admired China's spectacular natural beauty at attractions like Spruce Meadow on Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and Blue Moon Valley. Finally, they visited Kunming's traditional produce and flower markets to experience Yunnan's modern-day development. The itinerary was both rich and diverse, and the students thoroughly enjoyed this rewarding learning journey.
