STEM Club Ice Cream Factory Visit
On 2nd July, 2026, members of the STEM Club visited a local ice cream company in Kwai Chung for an in-depth academic study.
The core of this activity was to explore the practical applications of food science and automated industrial production. Guided by the staff of ice cream company, students stepped into the sub-zero production plant, experiencing firsthand the operating environment of industrial-grade refrigeration systems and heat exchange principles. To conclude the visit, students used sensory tasting to compare how different formulations—such as milk fat ratios and air injection volume—affect the texture and melting rates of the ice cream. Everyone left fully enriched, having spent a rewarding half-day immersed in intensive, cross-disciplinary scientific inquiry.
